Circe: the enchantment of metamorphosis In this painting I wanted to capture the enigmatic essence of Circe, the powerful sorceress of Greek mythology, famous for her spells that transformed men into animals. The work explores female power and the mystery of transformation, highlighting the contrast between seductive beauty and subtle danger.
In the painting, Circe is depicted as a nude woman seen from behind, with legs crossed and elegance, adorned by a delicate white veil that enhances her grace, while soberly revealing the shape of her breasts. She wears a crown of golden leaves, a symbol of her enchanting power.
By her side, a long tiger, a symbol of the transformed man, is present: one of its paws merges with the masculine hand grabbing the passion fruit, kept in a vessel full of various fruits.The landscape, completed by ancient Roman columns on the sides and the sea at the center, with a boat sailing freely, gives the whole an atmosphere of mystery and freedom.
